I  started to produce architectural renderings in the Orlando area in 1997. We began producing pen and ink elevations, perspectives, rendered floor plans and site plans. We would color these with marker, colored pencil and watercolor. We would also produce Hand-rendered photorealistic images in Designers Guache. We became acclamated to the production of conceptual renderings and quick turnarounds for many homebuilders throughout Central and North Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

In 2002 I was hired as a Charett artist for William M. Karr located in ST Thomas USVI. I worked out of there office in Winter Park but traveled for them throughout the Caribbean, Miami, Florida and Dubai. The Pen and Ink illustrations were usually rendered within a 16-24 hour period during a charett when clients were brought in to one of the local offices and the architectural team and myself would put the concept together to the astonishment of the client and stake holders. This made for many handshakes and signed contracts.

In 2005 I went to work as Art Director and Project Manager for Genesis Studios. Working with the owner, I scheduled and coordinated between the clientele and the 8-9 Full time watercolor artists and our modelling team to oversee that all the desires of our clients projects were met and exceeded, all within the approved deadlines and budgets. In 2006, I moved over to Direct the 3d Visualization team.

In 2007,  The great recession had begin to take its toll. I returned to William M. Karr and Associates and worked remotely from my home in Central Florida. Continuing to travel between the offices in ST Thomas, ST Croix. Coral Gables and Dubai. In late 2008 I was layed off due to the growing recession. The firm dropped from 40 employees to around 6-8. I was one of the last full time employees to be let go. I continued freelancing with them until 2012.  Freelance work continued with home builders, Architectural firms, Land Developers, Interior Designers and marketing agencies.

In 2016, I was rehired by Genesis Studios as a project manager and Illustrator. I continued on with them until 2018 where I continued working with them on a freelance basis but desired more creative control and opportunities.

DJ Edmonston Illustration Studio LLC was formally founded in 2020. Since then we have not looked back. We are thankful for the real-life experiences that we received as well some of most incredible projects we have had the opportunity to work on.
